Andrew Salter, MHA, CHES, DHAc
Education:
Andrew Salter is a dedicated healthcare professional with over 7 years of experience, creating, implementing, and improving clinical operations and public health and population health initiatives across Colorado. Andrew earned his bachelors degree in Public Health with a minor in Community Health Education form Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU). His education helped him become a Certified Health Education Specialist from the National Commission of Health Education Credentialing. During undergrad, Andrew published multiple papers and contributed to a peer health education program at Aurora Public Schools. Andrew went on to complete a Masters Degree in Health Administration from (MSU), where he focused his thesis on improving Emergency Department Nurse Burnout by utilizing innovative techniques. Andrew is currently earning his Doctorate in Health Administration (DHA) at Oklahoma State University with an expected completion date of 12/2026.
Work Experience:
Andrew’s work experience is vast and focused on innovative approaches to solving and improving services. Andrew began his healthcare career in the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corp, he then worked in a pediatric dental practice managing clinical operations. There, he created and implemented the first community outreach program to boost patient retention and acquisition, all while boosting operations, patient flow, compliance, staff training an onboarding, and much more. Andrew then went on to work at Denver Health for a first of its kind, grant funded program. Andrew lead implementation, continuous quality improvement strategies, and data collection for primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, labor and delivery, and high risk pediatric clinics at Westside health clinic and Denver Health’s Main Campus. Andrew went on to help create Adams County’s first harm reduction program at the new Adams County Health Department. From here, Andrew joined the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, helping create and implement statewide strategies to reduce healthcare worker burnout at both micro and macro levels. At CDPHE, Andrew coordinated state-wide travel, met with C-Suite healthcare executives to implement employee wellness programs, managed contracts with State partners, created a state-wide healthcare support program, managed internship programs, and provided health education to healthcare workers. Andrew now serves as a program manager in a Denver area Emergency Department, leading a first of its kind public health program for not just the health system but Colorado, boosting services by over 1501% in the first 9 months of operation. Throughout Andrew’s professional journey, he has consistently focused on innovative, evidence based solutions to population health, public health, healthcare, and oral health programs and practices. Andrew focuses on delivering measurable results that show clear impact and achieve desired outcomes.
Personal Life:
Andrew was born and raised in Denver Colorado, growing up, his passion for healthcare and community developed through his experiences going to Denver Health for lifesaving care. He attended Denver and Westminster Public Schools, learning just how important community is. Throughout his life, one thing became clear - education was a powerful tool. With this knowledge, Andrew utilized the power of education to continue higher education and improve public health through patient education and evidence based techniques. Andrew is also a loving father of 2 daughters. He enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and watching movies during his free time. Andrew has two cats, Mr. Tweedy and Tofu… who love to sleep, eat, and play.
